| I am Nathan Wells. I am a graphic designer, animator, artist and geek, among many other quriky things. Currently I am attending San Jose State University, majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Film and TV. I’m a serious, dedicated, driven person. Though born in Kentucky, I was raised in Northern California, north of San Francisco, deep behind the Redwood Curtain. I consider myself a native Californian. I now live in San Jose, California. I split my time between going to school in San Jose and visiting with my family up north. I have always been a creative person, and I’ve experimented with how to channel my creativity my entire life. I grew up building with LEGO, and I still use LEGO in my filmmaking. I was the kid who build fortresses out of cardboard boxes and often had greasy fingers from building whole worlds out of clay. My early tools were masking tape, hot glue, X-Acto knifes, black markers, and anything else I could grab. This creativity was greatly encouraged by my parent, who both homeschooled me up through high school. I wouldn’t be the creative person I am today without their support and their dedicated education of me. When I was 17 I began college at College of the Redwoods, a community college. There I met several important mentors, who solidified my interest in graphic design. During the two years I spent at College of the Redwoods, I completed all my general education classes and was awarded the 2008 Digital Media Student of the Year award by the Digital Media department. This past summer I interned in Washington DC at Nation Public Radio in the Creative Services department before returning to San Jose State University in the fall. I hope to graduate in 2011, and begin my career in graphic design, filmmaking or both. |
